This name reflects both its striking red appearance and its extremely high temperatures, making it the hottest place in inland China. While the term "Flaming Mountain" often specifically refers to the Flaming Mountain Scenic Area—popular among tourists because of its connection to the classic novel "Journey to the West"—the area encompasses a wider range of sites.
