Yarkand/Shache: Yarkand boasts a history spanning over 3,000 years. It is a renowned historical and cultural city that harmoniously blends humanistic and natural landscapes, as well as Central Asian and Western regional cultures.
Kashgar: Often described as the most exotic location in China, Kashgar is known for its stunning Islamic architecture. Notably, most of the film"The Kite Runner" was shot here.
Palong Ancient Path: The Panlong Ancient Path stretches like a massive dragon across the Pamir Plateau at an elevation of about 4,100 meters.The road beautifully complements the colorful mountains, with the majestic snow-capped peaks in the background.
Muji Crater: The Muji Crater is the highest volcanic crater in Xinjiang, spanning an area of approximately 3,500 meters. This crater is believed to have a history of over 1,500 years.
Pak-China Friendship Road: Driving along this road offers a stunning encounter with the Oitak Red Mountain and White Sand Lake. From the plateau, you can see both Karakul Lake and the magnificent Muztagh Ata Peak.
The Far Western Edge: This region borders Kyrgyzstan and is known as the "Western Pole of China." In its westernmost village, around the summer solstice each year, night falls at 10:30 p.m., and the sun does not completely set on the horizon until 11 p.m.
Mountains intersection: The Tianshan Mountains and the Kunlun Mountains converge on the Pamir Plateau. The Tianshan Mountains are light brown, while the Kunlun Mountains are dark red. The view here is both surreal and picturesque.
After breakfast, drive to Shache, a city with a history spanning 3,000years. It was once one of the most important regions along the ancient Silk Road. While there, you can visit the Mausoleum of Amani Shah Khan, a poet and musician renowned for collecting and organizing Muqam music. Additionally, the Khan Palace and a Muqam concert, which showcases Uygur cultural treasures in the musical field, will provide you with a deeper understanding of Uygur culture.
After breakfast, we will go directly to Toxkorgan. Along the way, we will have the opportunity to see Ganzi Canyon, Karakul Lake, and Whitesand Lake. We expect to arrive at Karakul Lake in the afternoon, situated at the foot of Mustagh Ata Mountain, known as the “father of glaciers.” We highly recommend trying the local yak meat for dinner.
After breakfast, we will drive to Ancient Stone Town, which boasts 2,300 years of history and was once a highly significant country. Next, we'll head to the Palong Ancient Path, which, according to legend, was the route taken by Xuanzang during the Tang Dynasty as he returned east after studying Buddhist scriptures. Along the way, we will pass the mysterious Blue Lake before heading back to Toxkorgan.
After breakfast, we will drive to Iekeshtam Port. Along the way, we will encounter the stunning Colorful Mountains. Irkeshtan lies on the natural dividing line between major geographical and cultural regions and has served as an important border control point for thousands of years. Next, we will reach the Western Pole of China, located in the Kizilsu Kirgiz Autonomous Prefecture in Xinjiang, which is the westernmost part of China. This area borders Kyrgyzstan and is known as the "Western Pole of China." In its westernmost village, it is fascinating to note that during the summer, night falls at 10:30 p.m., and the sun does not completely set on the horizon until 11 p.m. Finally, at our last stop, we will be amazed by an incredible view where two mountain ranges—the Tianshan Mountains and the Kunlun Mountains—converge on the Pamir Plateau. The Tianshan Mountains have a light brown color, while the Kunlun Mountains are characterized by their dark red hue.
