The History of Xi'an
Known as Chang'an in ancient times, Xi'an served as the capital for 13 Chinese dynasties and was one of the world's largest and most prosperous cities. More than 2,000 years ago, merchants began their journeys from Xi'an along the Silk Road, carrying silk, porcelain, tea, and other valuable goods across Asia and into Europe.
As the political, cultural, and economic center of ancient China, Xi'an played a vital role in shaping the country's history. Today, visitors can still explore many well-preserved landmarks that reflect its imperial past.
Terracotta Army – China's Greatest Archaeological Discovery
The Terracotta Army is Xi'an's most famous attraction and one of the greatest archaeological discoveries in the world. Built over 2,200 years ago to guard the tomb of China's first emperor, Qin Shi Huang, the site contains thousands of life-sized clay soldiers, horses, and chariots, each with unique facial expressions and details.
Visitors can walk through the excavation halls, learn about ancient Chinese military history, and witness one of the world's most extraordinary UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
The museum is located about 40 kilometers from downtown Xi'an and is easily accessible by bus or private tour.

Ancient City Wall
The Ancient City Wall is one of the best-preserved city walls in China and completely surrounds Xi'an's historic center. Originally built during the Ming Dynasty, the wall stretches nearly 14 kilometers and offers spectacular views of both the old and modern parts of the city.
Many visitors choose to rent bicycles or electric carts to travel around the entire wall while enjoying panoramic views of Xi'an's historic skyline.
The wall becomes especially beautiful in the evening when its ancient towers are illuminated.

Shaanxi History Museum
Often called "the treasure house of ancient Chinese civilization," the Shaanxi History Museum contains more than 370,000 historical artifacts spanning thousands of years.
Its exhibitions feature ancient pottery, bronze vessels, jade carvings, Tang Dynasty murals, and priceless relics that showcase Xi'an's importance as China's former imperial capital.
The museum is highly recommended for travelers who want to gain a deeper understanding of Chinese history before exploring the city's historic sites.
